HeatShield Repairs Chimney Liners Image - Charleston SC - Ashbusters Chimney Early fall is the perfect time to make sure your chimney is in good shape so that you can enjoy warm and safe fires all winter long. When your chimney and its components are damaged, it can be a dangerous safety hazard. One of the most important parts of your chimney is the liner, and it is crucial for the chimney liner to be in good condition in order to protect your home from heat transfer and to prevent leaks of toxic combustion gases into your living area. If your liner is cracked or spalled, this damage creates gaps and voids that can allow extremely hot temperatures to spread to the combustible parts of your home. Additionally, carbon monoxide can leak through the gaps and voids and compromise the air that you breathe inside your house. Repairing this type of damage to clay tile liners used to be expensive and time-consuming, but, fortunately, there is an easier option to restore clay tile chimney liners with HeatShield. Ashbusters is proud to offer HeatShield services, and our technicians have been selected and trained by HeatShield to repair chimney liners with this system.

What exactly is HeatShield?

A hybrid coating of ceramic and refractory materials, HeatShield was developed over 20 years ago in Europe to repair and restore masonry chimney liners. Approved to be used with all fuels, HeatShield is durable enough to withstand moisture, corrosive gases, and temperatures over 2900 degrees Fahrenheit. An economical and environmentally friendly liner repair option, each system comes with a 20-year material warranty.

How can Ashbusters fix my chimney liner issues with HeatShield?

We begin this process by inspecting your liner to see exactly how much damage is present. If we simply find damaged joints, we will use the Joint Repair System to fill in the gaps created by missing mortar between the flue tiles. If we find cracked or spalled flue tiles but determine that the flue is still structurally sound, we can restore damaged tiles with the Resurfacing System. If your liner is beyond repairing, we will recommend the CeCure Sleeve Relining System that will include a custom-fitted ceramic insulation sleeve that is reinforced with stainless steel. This sleeve will fit in between two layers of the HeatShield Cerfractory Flue Sealant to give your chimney the ultimate in protection. Our trained chimney technicians will provide you with photos of the damage to your liner and a written explanation of how HeatShield will repair that damage. We will also discuss with you why we recommend a particular system over the other two options.
